Welcome to another adventure within the multiverse! For this adventure, grab your friendship rings and hold on tight – Captain Nostalgia’s wife, Erica, is joining us for this adventure as we are diving into the world of Elton John and his biopic, Rocketman. Rocketman is the 2019 biopic of Elton John and his rise to fame. The film stars Taron Edgerton, of Kingsman fame, as the British superstar. To read our review of the film, click here.

For this adventure, we also recommend checking out our Spotify playlist of Elton’s best and greatest. What is your favorite Elton John song?

Biopics can somewhat come across sanitize. As if we wanna see these individuals in the best light possible rather than actually experience the hell that they went through to end up where they are today. Rocketman is a different breed of film in that regard. It’s a fearless film which isn’t afraid to embrace the heaven as well as the hell of Elton John’s career. The film strongly depicts themes of mental health, drug addiction, self-worth vs self-loathing, the impact of words and more. It’s a strongly emotional film that we hope will create conversation on various mental health topics. Throughout the duration of this episode, we are strongly embracing our own journey throughout depression and Elton’s as well.

And more importantly, if you or someone you know is struggling with suicide, addiction, self-harm or depression - please free feel to reach out. Use any our resources, call the suicide lifeline (1-800-273-8255) or text 741-741.
